The Canon 70-200mm ii
I recently was able to snag a deal on a lens I’d been eyeing for a long time: The Canon 70-200mm ii.
This lens had been an obsession of mine since seeing the beautifully compressed images it could produce. Luckily enough, a friend of mine was in need of photos for her Teen Titan’s Raven cosplay and I was more than happy to help. The shoot was a great way of putting the lens to the test and man did it blow my expectations out of the water. I’d always been a fan of shooting longer focal lengths, a favorite lens of mine being the 85mm, but this was a whole new experience.
Although heavy, the lens had an amazing autofocus speed and kept hitting its focus points even when shooting action shots. This had been a problem with some of my other lenses such as the Sigma 50mm Art, so it was a big win for me. For being a zoom lens and the detail it captures, there’s no surprise as to how it became so popular. I’ll be using the lens in many of my future shoots, and can not wait to push it to its limits.
